Step 1 – Set-Up Initial Visit

Most of our patients are referred by their general dentist, but many seek our services independently. Either way, call or fill out the automated form on our website and we will set up an introductory visit.

Step 2 – Introductory Visit

When we sit down with you for the first time you will have a lot of questions. Ask! You will meet our staff as well as Dr. Schmitt and we will go over your desires and expectations for your dental health. If you appear to be a good candidate for a Precise Smile, you may choose to have diagnostics taken.

Step 3 – Diagnostic Testing

If you want to move forward, A ConeBeam CT (dental scan of bone, tissue, teeth) will be taken before you leave to establish the condition of your teeth and facial bones. Next, 3D models, or dental impressions, of your bone structure will be made from the CT scan. This enables micro precision prosthetics, surgical guides and treatment.

Step 4 – Second Visit/Review of Findings

In less that a week, we will sit down to review the results of the CT scan. Based on this, we will discuss your options and if you are a candidate for the Precise Smile procedure. A detailed treatment plan will be explained by board certified specialists as well as the doctor who will perform your surgery. At this time you can ask the doctor any questions you may have. Additionally, you will be given a more accurate cost of the procedure based on your individual treatment plan. Treatment plans can vary based on bone loss and if you will need additional treatments such as a sinus lift. Once the doctor has gone over your personal plan, it’s time to make a decision and set a surgical date.

Step 5 – On-Site Design & Manufacturing Lab

With a surgery date set, Precise Smile uses advanced digital technology to design and create a new custom milled titanium appliance at our on-site lab. We do everything in-house and this gives us greater control and flexibility to to make the fit, look and feel of your new teeth perfect and precise.

Step 6 – First Surgery

In one day we will remove the source of your dental problems and restore a full, youthful smile that will change your life. Using only the highest quality materials, when you emerge from surgery, you will have a set of new teeth. During surgery, bad teeth are removed and prosthetic teeth are implanted into both the upper and lower jawbone. Bone is grafted into the sockets and prosthetic teeth are firmly anchored into a customized titanium framework. Over the course of the next three-to-six months, the bone in your jaw grows and integrates around the dental implant. You will visit Precise Smile occasionally thorough this period so we can monitor your progress. All visits are inclusive in our care.

Step 7 – Check-Ups

During the two to six months following the initial surgery, you will have periodic appointments with your general dentist as well as Precise Smile. During this time we are allowing your mouth and bone to heal and grow accustom to the appliance. A team of specialists will monitor your progress and all aspects of your healing process will be cared for during this time. Once the implants have physically attached and healed to the bone, you are ready for the final phase of your treatment. All visits are inclusive to our care.

Step 8 – Second Surgery

The final / second surgery takes place three to six months following the first surgery and is dependent on your healing progress as or if a bone graft or a sinus lift were required. At this visit, no general anesthesia is needed and a local anesthetic is administered. Next, the doctor will uncover the temporary implants and index soft tissue growth and the proper location of each permanent implant. New impressions are taken to define the new gum (soft tissue) growth that has occurred during the past months. This will dictate the precise and perfect location of the permanent prosthetics. From this, a final framework and the digital imaging, milling and manufacturing of your new, permanent teeth are created.

We take great strides to ensure your new teeth not only look amazing, but function with precision as well. This includes speaking and eating with ease and comfort.

Step 9 – Final Adjustments / Wax-Try’n Day

At Precise Smile we want to give you precisely the smile you desire. That’s why final adjustments are very important to us — and you! We call this your Wax-Try’n Day. At this time, the design of your new teeth are set in wax on the final titanium framework, which attaches to your jawbone, and holds the implants in place. Next, the wax teeth are inserted into the titanium framework to give you an exact replication of what your teeth will look like. This allows you to make any minor adjustments before we process, mill and digitally manufacture the final acrylic teeth. Permanent acrylic teeth wear and look like natural teeth and allow you to select the exact shape and color desired. Precise Smile specialists meet with you at two final adjustment consultations to help you choose the shade and shape of your new teeth before the final implantation. Allowing you to be integrally involved in the Precise Smile process is critical to your satisfaction.
